Technical Info

In this area we will be discussing some of the more technical features of HSMWorks.

Tolerances

The toolpath within HSMWorks is always calculated within a given total tolerance. The total tolerance specifies how much the machined part may be gouged or how much additional stock there may be left on the machined part in the worst case. Read more.

Post Processor Performance

In HSMWorks we focus on delivering the best possible performance and our built-in post processor is no exception. The post processor is the component responsible for converting the machining independent toolpath into the actual NC program for your CNC machine. Read more.

Toolpath Generation Performance

HSMWorks has been designed from the ground up to take full advantage of 64-bit processing and multi-CPU/core capabilities to ensure the best possible toolpath generation performance. Put together with our highly optimized toolpath algorithms you should generally see a significant reduction in calculation time by as much as a factor 20 or more compared to conventional CAM systems. Read more.

Do I Need More Memory?

In some cases HSMWorks is much slower than other CAM systems when generating identical toolpaths. This happens because the PC runs out of RAM (physical memory in the PC), and as a result the operating system starts "swapping". Read more.
