HSMWorks ApS announces release of HSMWorks 2009
Optimized Toolpath Strategies and SolidWorks 2009 support drive the Latest Release of HSMWorks' Integrated CAM Solution Powered by SolidWorks.
COPENHAGEN, Denmark — October 3, 2008 — HSMWorks ApS today unveiled HSMWorks 2009, the newest version of the HSMWorks advanced integrated CAM solution powered by SolidWorks technology.
HSMWorks 2009 is the second release to be distributed worldwide through a network of leading CAD/CAM Resellers specializing in integrated solutions for SolidWorks. HSMWorks 2009 is available as a stand-alone CAM solution, or as an Add-in for SolidWorks 2009.
Optimized Toolpath Strategies
Building on the success of the HSMWorks Kernel the past year has been dedicated to optimizing the high-speed toolpath strategies released in HSMWorks 2008. Particular focus has been given to speed and flexibility in operation.
"Last year we released the most robust platform for CAM, integrated or otherwise [stand-alone], ever introduced. Our toolpaths were not only designed for speed, but expressly designed to provide for the smoothest, most efficient material removal possible," states Tom Mortensen, Managing Director of HSMWorks ApS. "With HSMWorks 2009 we looked at every possible way we could improve each toolpath, from constraint and boundary definition to tool selection."
HSMWorks 2009 offers full support for multi-core CPUs and 64-bit processors that have become the standard of choice for the most demanding designers, manufacturing engineers, and CNC programmers.
In addition to the true multi-threaded architecture, which allows HSMWorks to calculate both a single toolpath and multiple independent toolpaths concurrently on multiple processors/cores resulting in a significant reduction in calculation time, the new HSMWorks kernel also introduces advanced toolpath and linking options that improve surface quality, reduce tool wear, and extend machine tool life. This innovation in machine toolpath technology promises to deliver the most efficient and accurate toolpaths at unparalled calculation speeds.
"HSMWorks is proud of its direct customer involvement in the development process." commented Anthony Graves, Marketing Director for HSMWorks ApS. "As with our initial release, every feature and toolpath enhancement in HSMWorks 2009 was optimized and tested with direct end-user feedback from concept to completion. The software is designed to specifically meet the real needs of our customers from user interface design to post-processing."
Total SolidWorks 2009 Integration
HSMWorks 2009 was designed to take advantage of the latest enhancements and features found in SolidWorks 2009. HSMWorks 2009 is a seamlessly integrated solution that runs inside SolidWorks 2009 taking advantage of the enhanced user interface, SWIFTT (SolidWorks Intelligent Feature Technology), Instant3D modeling, DimXpert, RealView® visualization tools, and new advanced surface design capabilities.
Tony Marsh, HSMWorks customer and Engineering Manager of S&S Plastics (injection moulding, mould design & manufacturing firm Nottinghamshire, UK), put it best, "With HSMWorks we have a total mould design solution based around SolidWorks. We never leave SolidWorks from the time we sit down with customers to work on design concepts to the time we post toolpaths for our CNC machines. Projects that used to take us 48-72 hours to turn-around are now completed in under 24. This simply wouldn't be possible for us with any other solution. HSMWorks has actually allowed us to get the most out of SolidWorks. I would strongly recommend to any SolidWorks user looking for a truly integrated design and machining solution they take a serious look at HSMWorks."
With over 100 new enhancements, including optimization of all toolpath strategies, HSMWorks 2009 builds on the success of HSMWorks 2008 and retains the title as the new standard for integrated CAM. Leveraging the power, flexibility, and design environment of SolidWorks 2009, HSMWorks 2009 combines the power of SolidWorks latest release with the improved toolpath technology of HSMWorks to provide the most efficient programming solution for users to create the highest quality toolpaths, with less effort, in less time, than ever before.
